Oct 05, 2020

An actuator is a component of a machine that converts inputted energy into physical motion. Motors and cylinders are a type of actuator. In the field of factory automation, for example, information (electrical signals) collected by sensors is processed by a computer via a network, and then the computer transmits signals to the actuators. The actuator that receives the signals then operates accordingly.
