The decision to make this valuable resource available in the Irish language was made in an effort to create an inclusive space for young Irish Students (Gaeilgeoir\u00ed) to educate themselves on online safety. The Cyber Academy now available in 19 languages, is aimed at children aged 7 to 10 years and is comprised of 11 all-important topics, covering everything from passwords and camera safety to kindness, misinformation, and time online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since launching in October of 2021, the Cyber Academy has become a vital resource both in and outside of the classroom, providing teachers and parents with a powerful tool to improve children\u2019s safety and awareness online. Offering both video-based lessons and learning materials designed to engage and improve children\u2019s digital literacy skills, each short episode can be delivered on-demand by a teacher in the classroom or a guardian at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each episode consists of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A three-minute animated video<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A conversation guide\/Q&amp;A for kids<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A Kahoot! During the visit, these young students were coached by Trend Micro employees on all elements of the Cyber Academy, along with presentation skills and top tips. The Cyber Academy Bootcamp trains student volunteers to present the Cyber Academy in English and Irish (as Gaeilge) to children.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Trend Micro\u2019s Cyber Academy is a wonderful resource for young people \u2013 and one that is particularly pertinent in today\u2019s internet-obsessed world.<\/strong><\/p>\n<cite><strong>Frank \u00d3 Tormaigh<\/strong>, Education Officer (Digital) with COGG<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In a further effort to spread the word about this exciting new resource, Trend Micro and COGG are hosting a FREE webinar for schools in Irish (as Gaeilge), on Tuesday 19th March at 1.30pm (GMT). The virtual webinar, which is aimed at 3rd to 6th class pupils (7-10 years old) and is available to schools all around the country of Ireland. Episodes covered will be: Passwords (Pasfhocail) and Two Factor Authentication (F\u00edordheimhni\u00fa d\u00e9shraithe).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Empowering everyone in our community to be safe, responsible and successful online is a long-term vision at Trend Micro, one that is central to the Internet Safety for Kids and Families program. Launching Cyber Academy in Irish marks the nineteenth language for the series, with lessons already available in English, French, Japanese, Filipino, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Ukrainian and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As with every language translation, ensuring that each Irish lesson was accurately and appropriately translated is credited to <strong>Frank \u00d3 Tormaigh<\/strong>, Education Officer (Digital) with COGG, who worked tirelessly with his team in collaboration with Trend Micro to create this valuable online tool for Irish students across Ireland, both Irish speaking primary
