Tell us below or Tweet\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/trendiskf\" target=\"_blank\">@TrendISKF<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>SAFER INTERNET DAY:\u00a0<\/b>This year marked the first nationally coordinated Safer Internet Day celebration in the U.S.\u00a0 Official host ConnectSafely held a fantastic event in Washington DC to mark the day and the beginning of many great things to come. The event featured a fantastic teen panel, a panel of social media companies, and New York Senator Charles Schumer.\u00a0 The live streamed event was recorded and available for viewing @\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/saferinternetday.us\/\">http:\/\/saferinternetday.us\/<\/a>.\u00a0 I was fortunate to have attended and hope this year\u2019s theme \u201cLet\u2019s create a better Internet together\u201d will continue for the years to come.\u00a0 Here are my\u00a0<a href=\"\/internet-safety\/sid2014\">thoughts on why<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While this was a successful day to help raise awareness, our work continues\u00a0everyday\u00a0to help others become safe, responsible, and successful users of the Internet.<\/p>\n<p><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">CLUB PENGUIN COMMITS TO STOP BULLYING:\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Disney&#8217;s Club Penguin, a social media platform aimed at kids ages 6 to 12, now offers a &#8220;<\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\" href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2014\/02\/06\/club-penguin-cyberbullying\/\">pledge<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">,&#8221; which is a reminder to keep the site bully-free and safe. It can be printed out or taken online.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>ONLINE PRIVACY POSSIBLE:\u00a0<\/b>There are ways to make your\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/web.mit.edu\/newsoffice\/2014\/is-online-privacy-possible.html\">online presence less trackable<\/a>. To do it right, a person needs to know what pieces of information are used to track a user and basic, publicly available tools to mask them. But the best way to protect your online privacy? Don\u2019t put it on the internet in the first place.<\/p>\n<p><b>TECH TIME &amp; OUTDOORS TOGETHER:\u00a0<\/b>A biologist and wildlife expert doesn\u2019t see technology as a roadblock for kids to get outside, but a smart phone can\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/opinion\/local-voices\/headlines\/20140207-technology-doesn-t-stand-in-the-way-of-nature-it-empowers-us-to-enjoy-it.ece\">enhance their experience<\/a>\u00a0as a plant and animal identifier, trail finder, waterfall tracker and picture data collector.\u00a0 This is welcome advice!
