{"id":751,"date":"2013-09-03T12:41:24","date_gmt":"2013-09-03T20:41:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/internetsafety.trendmicro.com\/?p=751"},"modified":"2013-09-03T12:41:24","modified_gmt":"2013-09-03T20:41:24","slug":"kids-ads-and-online-privacy-sxsw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.trendmicro.com\/internet-safety\/blog\/kids-ads-and-online-privacy-sxsw\/","title":{"rendered":"Help Us Take on the Issue of Kids, Ads, and Online Privacy at SxSW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/internet-safety\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/LynetteOwens_Trend_bw_edit1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-598\" style=\"width: 88px; height: 88px;\" alt=\"LynetteOwens_Trend_bw_edit\" src=\"\/internet-safety\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/LynetteOwens_Trend_bw_edit1-150x150.jpg\" width=\"88\" height=\"92\" \/><\/a>\u00a0By Lynette Owens<\/p>\n<p>A recent Pew Center study found that 81% of parents\u00a0are concerned\u00a0about how much information advertisers collect about their kids. \u00a0Additionally, many parents are still uninformed about <a href=\"\/internet-safety\/help-kids-keep-their-online-information-private-and-advertisers-at-bay\">what happens to their child\u2019s information when they&#8217;re online <\/a>.\u00a0 As digital devices end up in younger hands, personal information goes beyond just what we type, and online services become connected in increasingly complex ways, parents and consumers are rightfully concerned about who does and who should own our personal info, and who&#8217;s responsible to protect it.<\/p>\n<p>To debate this topic further, I\u2019m excited to announce that we\u2019ve submitted a panel to SxSW this year called \u201cThe Privacy Collision Course\u201d.\u00a0 With experts from Neustar, AddThis and Forrester, we will address current concerns and answer questions like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How will future government regulation (e.g. Do-Not-Track) impact the ways marketers reach their consumers?<\/li>\n<li>How does age play into the privacy debate and data control?
