THE CHALLENGE

Helping customers understand and protect against ever-changing, increasingly complex cyber threats

Since its founding in 1924, Nippon Jimuki Co., Ltd. has provided information and communications technology (ICT) solutions and services to customers in various industries and regions. These include the ANSHIN PLUS series for small and medium-sized enterprises, helping administrators operate ICT services safely and securely. Proudly operating as “the last mile” in cybersecurity, Nippon Jimuki helps to protect more than 5,000 companies, providing comprehensive support and services by leveraging their many years of expert insights.

Nippon Jimuki also provides a wide range of security measures, including those for client PCs and network security through endpoint detection and response (EDR) and unified threat management. They have responded to a wide range of complex and diverse cyberattacks, including ransomware. In recent years, as services diversified, customers have said that they “don’t know what kind of situation they are in” and “don’t know where to start,” according to Kazumasa Nishinami, Senior Marketer at Nippon Jimuki’s Business Strategy Division.

In addition, from a supply chain risk management perspective, a proactive security response is needed rather than a reactive one. “There are situations where it is necessary to respond to industry guidelines and security checklists within the organization, such as the response process in the event of a cyber incident, and there is an increasing demand for checks, including the security measures adopted,” says Yoshiaki Imai, General Manager of Nippon Jimuki’s Business Strategy Division. In short, it was necessary to clarify the issues faced by customers and provide evidence-based solutions.

Proactive security starts here

The Nippon Jimuki team anticipates that prioritized vulnerability patching, based on risk insights provided by Trend Vision One, will help protect customers while alleviating strain on support engineers. This includes reducing the number of available worker hours needed to respond to security events.

“By adopting CREM and being able to visualize risks in the customer environment, Nippon Jimuki’s support engineers are now able to take proactive measures,” says Imai-san.

“Until now, we have provided customers with a service that lets customers know that they have handled security events at their endpoints,” adds Nishinami-san. “Now, with the adoption of CREM, we have a foundation in place to provide even greater peace of mind, knowing that we have dealt with potential attack risks in advance.”

By adopting CREM and being able to visualize risks in the customer environment, Nippon Jimuki support engineers are now able to take proactive measures.

THE SOLUTION

Proactive risk scoring, consolidated security insights, and cyber risk exposure management with Trend Vision One™

To help accelerate their proactive security efforts, Nippon Jimuki turned to Trend Micro. The ideal choice was Trend Vision One™ Cyber Risk Exposure Management (CREM). It visualizes attack surface risks such as vulnerabilities and misconfigurations, prioritizes and informs proactive response measures, and enables organizations to stay ahead of threat actors. Dedicated risk scoring helps to present security event insights in an easy-to-understand manner while clarifying which require the most urgent attention.

In addition, through Trend Vision One™ for service providers (xSP), this AI-powered enterprise cybersecurity platform can integrate to existing endpoint protection measures provided by Nippon Jimuki. This consolidates risk insights and security event data, such as details about vulnerabilities and threat detection statuses on client PCs and servers, helping customers understand their security posture from the dedicated risk scoring of Trend Vision One.

At Nippon Jimuki, Trend Vision One for service providers and its powerful cyber risk exposure management capabilities are leveraged in their managed service, Cyber Risk Exposure Management ANSHIN PLUS. The service is designed to help protect small and medium-sized enterprise organizations and medical institutions. It uses Trend Vision One to identify intrusion risks, mitigating them before they can cause any damage.

This implementation of CREM is offered by Nippon Jimuki to their customers in conjunction with existing endpoint security through Trend Vision One for service providers. This ensures strong support between cybersecurity vendors and customers, such as understanding cyber risks, protecting against threats such as malware, and quick recovery in the event of emergencies.

Now, with the adoption of CREM, we have a foundation in place to provide even greater peace of mind, knowing that we have dealt with potential attack risks in advance.”
