VMWorld, Barcelona – 10th October 2012 - Trend Micro today introduced Trend Ready Programme for Cloud Service Providers, a new programme designed to boost enterprise adoption of public cloud services across EMEA by helping to remove any lingering security concerns.
Upon joining the programme, leading public cloud service providers will be able to prove to their potential customers that their infrastructures are compatible with Trend Micro security products, as well as explain how best to implement these solutions to keep their data safe. In doing so they will be able to help enterprises overcome their cloud computing concerns and confidently complete their journey to the public cloud.
“Working with Trend Micro has enabled Skyscape to deliver a strong secure cloud platform to meet the exacting requirements for the Government G-Cloud”, said Simon Hansford CTO at Skyscape. “The simplified operation offered by the Trend Technologies enables Skyscape to deliver the best price performance for cloud services, and eliminates the risk associated with a multi-tenant platform.”
Security concerns continue to be the number one barrier to organisations adopting public cloud services for their business critical applications. According to IDC’s 2011 Cloud Security Survey*, 42% of respondents (enterprise and SMB) (37%) believe multi-tenant cloud architectures are too risky, from a security and privacy point-of-view, to host their critical applications and data. In addition to verifying compatibility with identified Trend Micro products, participants in the Trend Ready programme will also be provided with Implementation Guides to share with their customers, describing the best practices and recommended configurations for deployment of specified Trend Micro solutions in their cloud infrastructures.
“As an ISO 9001/27001 certified Datacentre we regularly need to fulfill a number of security requirements when working with our clients”, said Klaus Foitzick, Managing Director at Global Access Internet Services GmbH. “With the Trend Ready programme we are not only able to show our commitment to data protection but also half our internal costs when it comes to deploying and maintaining security measures.”
"Though all software companies verify their solutions against leading hardware products, Trend Micro is the first company to extend this verification to include cloud infrastructures”, said Kevin Simzer, Vice President of Corporate Development & Strategy, Trend Micro. “Hybrid cloud infrastructures are commonplace for our customers and we are proud to be working with this marquee group of cloud service providers to enable stronger security and greater cloud deployments."
Current solutions verified in the Trend Ready programme include:
Outside of EMEA, the Trend Ready programme has also attracted some global Cloud Service Providers, including Amazon.com Inc.’s Amazon Web Services, Dell, Hewlett-Packard Co.’s Cloud Services, NTT Communications, OpSource, Dimension Data, Savvis Inc. and Telefonica SA.
"Security is biggest obstacle to public cloud adoption because enterprises find it difficult to assess cloud security risks and approaches to mitigation. The Trend Ready programme helps educate enterprises about the risks and benefits of cloud computing, and provides an approach to adopting public cloud services without compromising data security."
Christian Christiansen, vice president of security products and services, IDC
