Trend Micro expands investment in Cloud Security for Canadian businesses
Save to Folio
The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the migration to cloud computing and shed light on the need for cloud security services to protect confidential and propriety company data. As businesses continue to migrate to the cloud, many face regulatory or policy-based concerns around the location of SaaS platforms or data storage for their workloads.
In Canada, this is no different. The country has been regulating the management of personal information privacy for 38 years, ever since the Government of Canada enacted the Privacy Act in 1983. In 2001, the government developed measures to address how and where data could be stored through Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and in 2015 the Canadian Parliament passed the Digital Privacy Act (DPA), thereby amending PIPEDA.
As customers want cloud solutions and services that meet Canada’s Data Residency Laws, Trend Micro Canada is ready to help them adopt cloud security services without worrying about data security and residency.
Data residency no longer a concern
Now that Trend Micro Cloud One™ is hosted in a Canadian cloud region, Canadian organizations will be able to:
- Uphold data residency & safeguard data privacy
- Improve compliance
- Reduce friction for guidance and reporting requirements
- Reduce business risk brought on by a security breach
- Enjoy the benefits of cloud computing, such as offering faster data processing times to their users and customers
“We’re thrilled to reinforce our commitment to our Canadian customers with this announcement,” says Marcia Sequeira, Country Manager, Trend Micro Canada. “Data residency and sovereignty concerns are no longer a roadblock for enterprises to leverage our market-leading platform. Hosting Trend Micro Cloud One in Canada will help simplify cloud security for our vast clientele – especially in BFSI, government and other regulated sectors.”
