This malware injects the normal process lsass.exe with its malicious DLL component detected as TROJ64_INJECT.USR.

It loads its DLL component using the following parameters:

    {Malware Path and File Name}.exe -s TRUE {string 1} {string 2}

where {string 1} and {string 2} are as follows:

  • string 1 = encrypted Malware Path and File Name of TROJ64_INJECT.USR
  • string 2 = encrypted URL

It registers itself as a service to enable automatic execution on startup:

Step 1

Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.

Step 2

Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product and note files detected as TROJ64_INSTOL.USR

Step 3

Restart in Safe Mode

Search and delete the file detected as TROJ64_INSTOL.USR
