This malware is the Flashback Mac Trojan Horse that installs itself by exploiting two certain Java vulnerabilities.

This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Installation

This Trojan drops the following non-malicious files:

  • /Users/Shared/.svcdmp
  • ~/.MACOSX/environment.plist
  • ~/Library/Logs/vmLog

It drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:

  • /Users/Shared/.{Random File Name}.so

    rm ~/Library/Logs/vmLog
  3. Close Terminal by pressing (Command) + Q.
