Malware Overview

This malicious JavaScript (JS) file may be hosted on a Web site and run when a user accesses the said Web site.

It adds an IFRAME tags to redirect users to a certain Web site. The said Web site is detected by Trend Micro as TROJ_DLOADR.API. The said tag(s) are added to Web sites visited by a user after using several popular search engines.

Details:

This malicious JavaScript (JS) file may be hosted on a Web site and run when a user accesses the said Web site.

It adds an IFRAME tag to Web sites to redirect users to http://{BLOCKED}antiviral-scan.com/?id=48275. Once users access this Web site, it downloads a file detected by Trend Micro as TROJ_DLOADR.API.

It adds the said iFrame tag on Web sites that the affected user visits, referred by any of the following search engines:

  • AOL
  • Bing
  • Comcast
  • Conduit
  • Google
  • Yahoo

It runs on Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, Server 2003.

Solution:

For Windows ME and XP users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.

 Step 1: Remove malware files dropped/downloaded by JS_DLOADR.APO  

 Step 2: Close all opened browser windows 

 Step 3: Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as JS_DLOADR.APO
