Fake Google Spam Leads To Malicious Website
July 15, 2013
For several weeks, the team has been receiving spam samples coming from a '*@google.com' email address. Looking at the spam's subject (which is written in Japanese), the samples speak of a certain 'Uncommitted Hiroshima Report'. However, the sample's main body of text does not show anything except for a hyperlink, which when clicked directs the user to a malicious website.
Users are once again reminded to never click on spammed emails harboring suspicious links. Always try to verify with the sender about the contents of his message, or if the sender is unknown and/or even remotely suspicious, delete the spam entirely without even reading it.
The spam mails were already detected and blocked by the security solutions powered by the Trend Micro™ Smart Protection Network™.
