Why Macs Need Security

Online threats are no longer dependent on the kind of device you use.”

Since a large number of people use Windows, it makes sense why cybercriminals continuously attack it. But that doesn’t mean Windows users are the bad guys’ sole target; Mac users are also at risk.

A Change in Focus

Macs previously experienced some level of immunity since their number of users barely registered on the cybercriminal radar. But that so-called immunity is long gone. Online threats are no longer dependent on the kind of device or platform you use. Cybercriminals reach their victims through their online activities. Careless browsing could lead to Mac malware infections. You could also wind up on phishing sites that steal important Apple-related information like your Apple ID.

Protecting Your Macs

Macs may differ from Windows PCs but the same safety practices still apply. Remember to download files only from trusted and official sites. Your software should also be regularly updated but make sure to rely on official sites. Installing a security solution can help keep various Mac threats at bay.
